The CM Solarization Program for Agri Tubewells is a major initiative aimed at promoting solar irrigation and helping farmers adapt to climate change. Around 8,000 tube wells will be converted from diesel and electricity to solar-powered systems, ensuring more stable and eco-friendly water access. Each farmer can receive a substantial subsidy of PKR 500,000 to install a 10 KW solar system. I recently met a farmer who benefited—his fields now get water without relying on costly fuel, and his income has improved. This program is designed to enhance agricultural resilience and ease energy costs. By switching to solar, it supports sustainable farming across the province.

- Owner of agricultural land in the revenue boundary of the same district where application is submitted. Attach Fard-e-Malakiat as evidence of ownership.
- Solar power capacity requirement of 10, 15 or 20 KW will be considered for solarization.
- In case of electric tubewell, the farmer/applicant must own an electric tubewell having last paid bill of electric tubewell connection will be submitted as a proof of tubewell ownership, nonpayers/ defaulters will not be considered).
- For electrical tubewell, the electricity connection should have been installed on or before 30th October, 2024.

Conclusion
The Punjab government has taken a big step toward sustainable farming with the launch of the Solarization Program, aiming to provide free solar panels to eligible farmers. This scheme, a vital part of the larger Solarization Scheme, supports efficient water use while cutting down on electricity consumption and fuel costs. Under this program, not only will Agri tubewells be converted, but also 800 petrol and diesel-powered vehicles will be shifted to clean energy. Farmers are receiving subsidies—up to 10 Lakh—to cover the cost of free solarization. I spoke to a grower near Multan who had recently submitted his application and couldn’t believe such support was provided without hidden charges. The registration process is ongoing, and families must have their applications submitted and processed before December 31 to qualify. Once registration is completed, the subsidy is issued, and the solar panels are installed. By converting high-fuel systems to solar, the Punjab Solarization Program aims to provide cleaner water access, reduce reliance on diesel, and promote greener agriculture—absolutely free for qualified farmers.
